We are looking for a Senior Estimator to join our Commerce Office!

Under the direction of the Sr. Estimator Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for providing accurate plumbing quotes, training support, assist the senior estimator in maintaining estimating databases and creating new estimating methods.

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE INVOLVE?


  • Act as an Estimating Lead of all market types of plumbing pursuits (mainly largescale pursuits-Design/Build, Design Assist, GMP, P&S, Budgets, etc.).

  • Act as a mentor by training and supporting other Estimating Assistants & Estimators in the department.

  • Detail reports before & after bid time.

  • Provide support to Project Managers for projects estimated & budgeted

  • Follow up on bids before, and after bid time.

  • Collaboration with HVAC/PLBG project managers for combo opportunities and pursuits

  • Assist with the management of designated Plumbing/Piping from initial turn-over to closeout

  • Assist with the project Cost budgets and Schedule of Values

  • Assist in the project construction task schedules

  • Participate in Estimating, Bid conferences, and job walks

  • Assist with Change Order estimating, compilation, and negotiation

  • Assist in the material and equipment buy-outs on assigned projects.

  • Assist in the Utilization and Collaboration with support operations (Engineering, BIM/Detailing, Fab, Warehouse, Purchasing, Field operations.

  • Estimating coordination of pre-construction job meetings with department heads and supervisors.

  • Contributes to and participates in special studies, committees, etc., to advance ACCO's technical abilities in engineering, planning and estimating, installation procedures, etc.

  • Attend training courses related to estimating methods and software.

  • Review peer takeoff and estimate recaps for quality control.

  • Ability to prepare Design-Build estimates and conceptual budgets.

  • Strong estimating software knowledge.

  • Coordinate bid schedule with team members and estimating assistant

  • Assist in maintaining estimating software database and material pricing.

  • Assist in creating new estimating tools, assemblies, processes, and spreadsheets to streamline estimating methods.

  • Participate in special marketing events.

  • Other duties as assigned by upper management

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE?


  • 5+ years of experience in the successful management of plumbing estimating, plumbing conceptual design drawings, and management of Plumbing Bidding.

  • Ability to operate independently and autonomously, and yet possess the discretionary judgment to know when it's appropriate to consult with others in the organization

  • Proficient utilization of management/accounting software

  • Demonstrate a corresponding high sense of integrity

  • Strong interpersonal and project management abilities, employing strong organizational skills to respond successfully to a high volume of issues

  • Degree and/or field and office experience in Construction Estimating or Engineering, or equivalent experience required.

  • A proficient-plus level user of MS Excel and MS Word

    • Ability to create spreadsheets & use formulas



Additional Skills/Abilities Preferred, but Not Required:


  • BA level educational degree in Construction

  • Plumbing field and office training 5+ years

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach above shoulder height to access storage cabinets and shelves.
