High school level of knowledge. Previous experience or graduated from a Nursing Assistant program. Ability to accurately obtain and document vital signs and all pertinent patient information in electronic medical records or patient care forms, and understand printed health related material. One year or more experience as a Nurse Assistant required; out-patient/clinic nursing assistant experience preferable. Ability to read physicians' orders and transcribe them correctly. Secretarial/clerical courses preferred or two years prior experience. Accurate spelling required. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with all age groups. Must be able to keep calm under stress. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and graphics software, with minimum typing speed of 60 wpm. Ability to compose correspondence and proof assignments to ensure accuracy of documents. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills required. Detail attentiveness required. Must be self-motivated and willing to self-direct.. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy. Able to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints. BLS certification required.
