SUMMARY OF POSITION


Planning and Supply Chain is a corporate function within STM. The Director will lead the individual departments of Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Item Data Governance and Setup, and Supply Chain Analytics. The Director sets the strategic vision for the design and execution of the processes and technology used by the individual departments with the goal of optimizing service (unit fill), cost (within agreed upon parameters with purchasing and manufacturing) and inventory. The Director also serves as the executive sponsor of the corporate Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Process.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Leads and mentors department staff in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Item Master Governance and Setup, and Supply Chain Analytics.

  • Executes policies in a fair and consistent manner as it relates to attendance, conduct, compensation, administration, promotion, discipline, etc.

  • Drives S&OP process and ensures the process is meeting its objectives of keeping demand and supply in balance in the most economical manner.

  • Monitors and maintains effective inventory levels across all direct materials (raw materials, packaging, finished goods) based on S&OP inputs and collaboration with manufacturing, purchasing, and logistics.

  • Develops and implements a robust product segmentation policy (make to stock, make to order, safety stock settings, obsolescence risk) using a clear understanding of a products' position and goals in its market.

  • Chooses and implements appropriate technology tools that support best in class processes in supply planning, demand planning, and item data governance and setup. Ensures the capabilities of current tools are fully optimized.

  • Develops and implements, understands, and publishes a robust set of key performance indicators (KPI) across all supply chain planning disciplines. Develops and implements action plans when indicators show objectives are not being met.

  • Owns the process that identifies and leads to the disposition of excess and obsolete materials at the end of a product lifecycle.

  • Ensures that the business strategies are understood throughout the supply chain organization and that team is translating those strategies into operational plans.

  • Keeps current on the latest trends in the areas of supply and demand management as well as the latest tools, planning and supply chain software and techniques that drive superior performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Education

    • Bachelor's degree in related field





  • Skills

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills

    • Solid leadership, management, and people skills





  • Abilities


    • Ability to understand the interrelatedness of supply chain functions,

    • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with all key interface groups (manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing)

    • Ability to think strategically around supply chain design but also the ability to execute tactically

    • The ability to synthesize complex situations into specific action plans

    • Ability to segment products into unique groupings for development of the most optimal supply chain.




  • Experience

    • 7+ years' experience in progressively responsible roles in a supply chain organization.

    • Strong working knowledge with contemporary Planning and Supply Chain software.

    • Strong financial management background

  • Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time

  • Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone

  • Schedule flexibility to include weekend and after-hours workload

  • Travel to other corporate locations.



WORK ENVIRONMENT


This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
