Otter Products is currently recruiting for an Engineering Technician (Prototype Lab) to be located at our Fort Collins, CO headquarters! The Engineering Technician will the work with our design engineers and industrial designers by providing physical prototypes while ensuring all work conforms to or exceeds Otter Products' high standards and expectations. This role will be responsible for the construction of prototype parts and models and assembles mock-ups to simulate new product appearance. Intrigued? Responsibilities

    Create and assemble handcrafted prototypes based on the needs of the requestor (cleaning, sanding, polishing, painting, etc.)
  • Create prototype builds to ensure the maximum output and quality of the machine

  • Technicians will operate a variety of rapid prototyping equipment sets utilizing multiple 3D printing technologies, laser cutters, forming and molding techniques, and other fabrication methods

  • Provide guidance and recommendations to designers, advising on the ideal material selection, manufacturing and finishing process

  • Provide the highest quality and timely prototypes for internal and external customers

  • Assist in the development and fabrication of test fixtures, and jigs

  • Adherence to shop safety and hazardous materials policies

  • Ability to conform to external partner agreements as needed

  • Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:


  • Associate's degree required. Experience in lieu of degree may be considered

  • Minimum three years of proven experience in model making and/or prototyping

  • Experience in laser scanning, rapid prototyping, or additive manufacturing preferred

  • CAD experience preferred

  • Software experience: SolidWorks, Magics, E-Stage, GeoMagics (entire suite), and Adobe Illustrator preferred.

Required Skills:


  • Knowledge (theoretical or practical understanding of a subject)

    • Knowledge of reverse engineering and additive manufacturing software and equipment

    • Knowledge of basic machining and various fabrication techniques (Lathe, Mill, Laser cutter)



  • Skills (proficiencies developed through training or experience)

    • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and clean all equipment in the lab

    • Solidworks, Magics, GEO Suite, MS Office Suite, SharePoint

    • Understand safe and proper usage of hand and power tools

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Creative, innovative, and demonstrates a strong attention to detail



  • Abilities (qualities of being able to do something)

    • Interface with cross-functional teams throughout the whole organization

    • Work under minimal supervision and make company critical decisions on your own

    • Critical thinking and the ability to problem solve

    • Ability to work during traditional working hours as well as non-traditional working hours as needed

    • Effectively communicate in English

    • Ability to work in a fast paced, continuously changing environment



For US Based Roles Only - Compensation Range Minimum

USD $25.00/Hr.

For US Based Roles Only - Compensation Range Maximum

USD $33.00/Hr.
