The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill
the position of Fiscal Specialist in
the Office of Fiscal Resources. The
Fiscal Specialist is primarily responsible for providing clerical support
through a variety of non-standard and paraprofessional accounting functions as
processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; balancing, reconciling and
verifying fiscal transactions; preparing complex and non-standard reports and
analyzing fiscal information for accuracy and consistency.
The
following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as
exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Coordinates, monitors,
and performs a variety of fiscal management and control activities for the
Supreme Court of Ohio and its affiliate offices.
Processes payments,
which includes data entry, coding expenses to correct account groups and cost
centers, verifying approvals and posting of funds, and maintaining the sign-off
process for retrieving checks.
Processes purchase
requests through OnBase, which includes data entry, verifying approvals,
monitoring purchase requisition process flow, and encumbering commitments in
the OAKS system.
Reviews documents for
completeness; identifies discrepancies and independently follows through on
their correction; maintains vendor and accounts payable records; works with the
Office of Budget and Management on new vendor form submissions.
Deposits revenue into
appropriate accounts and maintains corresponding records.
Audits forms or other
documents for compliance; monitors budgets; calculates cash balances;
reconciles cash and accounts.
Prepares various
financial and accounting reports; performs calculations to determine accuracy;
sets up spreadsheet applications to track and summarize financial information;
processes travel requests and maintains travel request database.
Provides support for
answering phones, directing calls, greeting visitors, maintaining fiscal files,
creating new vendor files, and opening and distributing mail.
Regular, reliable, and
punctual attendance is required.
Requires
some college. Four or more years of experience
in accounting clerical functions with demonstrated proficiency in fiscal and
accounting practices and procedures, including knowledge of general ledger chart of accounts. Experience with State of Ohio OAKS system is preferred.
Requires
the ability to perform basic level data analysis. Requires discretion in applying such analysis
to comply with established policies and procedures. Requires the ability to use Microsoft Office
products (Excel, Word, and Access), accounting system and calculator.
Requires
the ability to travel to the Office of the Treasurer to get checks when
needed.
Requires the ability to
communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to establish positive
public relations and to interact effectively with justices, judges, attorneys,
supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
Requires the ability to
establish and maintain collaborative effective working relationships with
supervisors and subordinate staff, division directors and managers, public
officials, and state agencies.
Requires the ability to
perform all aspects of the job with fairness, equity, patience, discretion, and
confidentiality.
The ability to work as an individual
and as part of a team.
Must be efficient and organized with a
high level of attention to detail.
Experience with OnBase or another fiscal reporting system is considered
a plus.
