Job Description

Job Summary

Operations, Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment, instruments, etc. Should also have good electrical skills including wiring, PLC, DCS, electrical troubleshooting, etc. Must be willing to work rotating shifts. Candidates should also have a strong work ethic, possess a safe work history and function effectively in a self-directed team environment. 

Primary Duties


  • Operate and maintain equipment under the utilities scope of responsibility including but not limited to combined heat and power plant, water filter plant, pump house, air house and waste treatment plant

  • Perform testing and equipment rounds, and adjust process operations to deliver reliable, low-cost utilities

  • Ability to perform routine service, setup, adjustment and repairs of equipment (e.g. instruments, field devices).

  • Perform Predictive & Preventative tasks associated on heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.

  • Identify and correct defects in equipment during preventative maintenance and electrical inspections

  • Installation, troubleshooting of controls equipment utilizing PLC and DCS architecture

  • Diagnosis and repair of electrical power and control systems, AC V/S drives, and DC brushless generator exciters.

  • Read and use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams and circuit diagrams

  • Familiarity with communication protocols (Ethernet, Device net, Control net)

  • Proficient in rigging/lifting fundamentals required for large equipment replacements

  • Proficient at using hand tools, portable electric tools & maintenance shop equipment

  • Rebuild spare equipment and components.

  • Identify, plan, execute electrical maintenance tasks

  • Work within an operations driven team environment to resolve issues and improve performance

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years’ experience as an E&I Technician OR completion of an approved apprenticeship program or technical associate degree, with a minimum of 36 months related industrial experience.

  • Ability to maintain a work schedule of 12 hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays

  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks, work at heights and within confined spaces

  • Must understand preventive/predictive/proactive maintenance concepts

  • Capable of learning fundamentals of turbine, boiler, and cooling system operations including chemical and thermodynamic principles.

  • Test Equipment

  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Training in LEAN tools and concepts

  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing and converting equipment  

  • Basic computer skills in SAP, Microsoft Word, Outlook and other Windows applications

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including self-motivation

  • Experience with Utilities Operations and Equipment
