Responsibilities
Evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes by designing and applying continuous improvement methods; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Design and coordinate manufacture of fixtures, jigs, equipment and integrate into other processes
Design dies to produce customer geometries and coordinate with team on processing and upload to equipment and integration into other processes.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to workflow, capacity, space requirements, equipment layout, throughput and scrap
Coordinate and support manufacturing activities and new product/process transfer activities including overseeing manufacturing activities during scale-up
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
Act as a technical liaison between manufacturing and engineering teams
Educate, train, and supervise new employees on manufacturing and lean processes
Support validation of equipment/utilities/processes and re-qualifications
Support production personnel on training, troubleshooting processes, developing maintenance plans, operating instructions and other associated documentation for successful operation
Review and manage planning timelines for new projects and initiatives
Work with cross-functional engineering teams to assist with design and implementation of printer modifications, assemblies, automated processes, etc.
Perform all other duties as per the company's needs and requirements.
Qualities/Skills
BS or MS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and 3-5 years' experience in manufacturing/design environment
Experience implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes and ability to apply relevant material science concepts in close collaboration with materials engineering teams
Experience and proficiency in applying statistical analysis in a manufacturing environment to solve problems and using SPC or LEAN Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement
Proficiency in Siemens NX or OnShape CAD software preferred
