JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Technician/Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, repair of production equipment to prevent down time as much as possible, ensure the quality performance of production and auxiliary equipment, and install and fabricate equipment as assigned.   

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: These job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)


  • Maintain high safety standards by enforcing all safety policies, assuring proper PPE use, and following all lock-out/ tag-out procedures.  Report all unsafe operating conditions, practices and personnel to supervision.

  • Provide timely response of all trouble calls.  Diagnose and remedy problems as requested. 

  • Repair and replace equipment in an efficient, sanitary and safe manner. 

  • Prepare accurate daily maintenance work reports.  Include tasks completed and time required. 

  • Follow written or verbal instructions and m aintain quality standards for all processes and functions within assigned duties. Request parts for repair work, as needed. 

  • Operate power tools, hand tools, welding and cutting equipment, or man lifts when required.

  • Maintenance tasks may include building repairs, metal fabrication and cement and tile work, when needed. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance work and document any deficiencies found. Provide assistance to Maintenance Manager as needed for solutions.

  • Communicate necessary maintenance and repair information to the next shift Maintenance Technician/Mechanic about any problems which occur during the shift.

  • Perform start-up and shutdown of equipment, involving the energizing and de-energizing of equipment.

  • Perform bench repairs or building repairs in a timely manner, but not to preclude responding to trouble calls or performing preventative maintenance tasks. 

  • Assist in training new employees.   .

  • Ensure that a clean and orderly work area is maintained and that all quality and safety procedures are followed.

  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures on machines and work area. 

  • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain production, warehouse and sanitation equipment.

  • Comply with all quality, plant and food safety, HACCP, GMP and sanitation regulations

  • Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager/Production Supervisor/Maintenance Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent education.

  • Must have 3 to 5 years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Must exhibit ability and desire to work within a team.

  • Works with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be dependable.

  • Able to work in varying conditions (hot, humid, cold, etc.)

  • Possess and exhibit good mechanical and problem solving skills.

  • Experience working with 480 volt 3 phase, 120 AC control circuits and convenience outlets, 240 volt AC single phase and low voltage DC control power.

  • Position requires understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers and Control Logix and Device Net, machine HMI interface, and basic knowledge PLC knowledge for the purpose of troubleshooting.

  • Must possess a Career Readiness Certificate, minimum Level 4.

  • Requires basic mathematical and English reading and writing skills.

  • Forklift operations per Wis-Pak Safety standard to include inspections. 

  • Must meet Pre-employment Drug Screening Requirements and background check
