Job Description:

Medline has an immediate opening for a Director of Business Operations in the Lab Division located in Northfield, IL. This individual, supporting four product divisions, will be responsible for the oversight of multiple teams to include, but not limited to: product support (domestic and international), sample delivery, business operations to include: inventory management, division analytics, forecast/demand planning, allocation management, and process improvement. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing long-term business and operations strategies. In addition, this person will provide subject matter expertise for complex cross-divisional processes which include engagement from cross functional leadership. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working, customer centric professional who desires to work for a fast-paced, hands-on organization.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Identify, prioritize and execute on department short and long term goals to improve team efficiency, customer outcomes, and division financials.
  • Build collaborative cross-functional partnerships to develop and implement process improvements company wide. Create new standards in operations, product support, and sampling.
  • Responsible for the overseas support team located in Pune, India - drive process improvement, increase output, and improve accuracy. Team is responsible for cross referencing, responding to sales product related questions, and some reporting.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial performance and determine contributing factors. Offer solutions for increased expense and provide profit improving solutions related to business unit.
  • Translate leadership strategy into actionable processes and objectives.
  • Develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Management responsibilities include:

    • Typically, manages through multiple Managers. Provides leadership and management to one or more major departments of an operating unit or to a department that has system-wide accountability.
    • Strategic, tactical and operational planning (12 months) for the function or department;
    • Direct budgetary responsibility for one or more departments, functions or major projects/programs;
    • Interpret and execute policies for departments/projects and develops;
    • Recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies;
    • Hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

Education


  • Bachelor's degree.

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 8 years of experience in product support, product management, operations and/or supply chain management.
  • At least 5 years of overall experience in customer and/or product support.

Additional

  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience with SAP.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant Work Experience


  • Experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.

Additional

  • Experience controlling and coordinating concurrent projects, competing priorities and critical deadlines.
  • Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas.
  • Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.
