Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

This high visibility position is primarily tasked with managing the planning of product blending and distribution. The Lead/Supervisor is responsible for creating an inventory forecast that is used for financial forecast and hedging by our headquarters. The L/S also acts as the principal liaison for interaction with customers for our products and contractors (inspection services). Responsible for reviewing and approving invoices from third parties providing inspection and storage services. Responsible for using/maintaining sophisticated spreadsheet tools to create these plans. Interacts with Refinery Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Logistics and Marketing personnel. The person in this role is expected to generate support and enthusiasm from Hawaii Operations and Houston Commercial/Management for the operating plan through influence and effective communication skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science highly preferred or equivalent experience acceptable.

* Refinery process and/or tank farm experience preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

Required:


  • 3 - 5 years of oil refining experience in Planning and/or Operations.

  • Preferred:

  • 5 - 10 years of oil refining experience, especially in Planning and Economics, Operations and Process Engineering.

  • Experience providing production/inventory projections

  • Experience planning product blending and distribution from refinery.

  • Experience scheduling and managing multi product load/discharge on barge and ships

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office suite programs. Advanced skill level required in Excel.

  • Experience in plant data systems preferred

  • Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and production requirements.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong skills in coordination and logical thinking are essential

  • Strong awareness of economics of refining and trading expected

  • Supervisory experience desired

  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES


  1. Creates or supervises the Medium/Long term product distribution plan

  2. Supervises the execution of short-term operating plan, establishing unit feed rates and crude switch requirements, tank rundowns and required specifications for each stream, blend recipes, and pumping orders for shipments on each pipeline.

  3. Supervises/Coordinates the refinery planning functions such as pumping schedules and sample testing priorities between Planning, Operations, Maintenance, Terminals, Marine and Laboratory.

  4. Prepares weekly inventory balances spreadsheets for crude and products with summary of key concerns working with Supply and Marketing to resolve issues.

  5. Reviews/prepares daily blending and distribution orders.

  6. Works in coordination with Operations and Maintenance to identify plant constraints and maintenance opportunities.

  7. Identifies opportunities to increase efficiencies in the tank farm tankage and pipeline networks and works proactively with Operations to justify new opportunities.

  8. Reviews invoices from service providers and provides support for budgeting

  9. Coordinates planning team efforts for inventory measurement

  10. Coordinates Plan vs Actual meetings with Planning Team members

  11. Works with Director of Economics and Scheduling to evaluate new opportunities and product specifications for feasibility and cost of production.

  12. Principal Liaison with major customers to coordinate supply plan (DLA, HECO, etc ...)

  13. Engages technical skills to improve spreadsheet tools that are used for economic analysis and blending. Creates new spreadsheet tools as needed.

  14. Other job duties are required and directed.
