Warehouse Lead

The Warehouse Lead will work with the Warehouse Management team to ensure all day-to-day warehouse functions are performed and executed as required in the course and scope of warehouse operations. The objective of the position is to assist the Management team in the execution of processes, procedures and initiatives, and to act as Management representatives in their absence. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing system transactions, coordinating shipments and receipts, performing cycle counts, staging and returning materials for shipping, receiving and production, directing other associates in the performance of their tasks and priorities in a timely, efficient and productive manner, and all other activities and assigned duties related to warehouse operations, inventory management and control as needed.

Essential Functions:


  • Monitor and direct the associates’ tasks, responsibilities, priorities, performance and processes in assigned Warehouse operation activities.



  • Coordinates with all involved parties to ensure accuracy of all inbound and outbound processes, deliveries and shipments are followed in accordance with documented SOP.




Coordinate daily Receiving activities:


  • Print daily inbound report, schedule inbound orders with suppliers/carriers, coordinate and schedule appointments for inbound shipments with vendors and carriers.


  • Verify carriers sign the visitor log upon arrival, and confirm required documentation prior to offloading, such as BOL, packing List and COA if applicable.


  • Fill out the Truck Inspection Form and assign a receiving bay door.


  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Associates the unloading of the truck.


  • After unloading the truck verify the accuracy of the delivery to the BOL with the Warehouse Associate, noting any discrepancies.


  • Ensure notes indicating the accuracy or discrepancy of the delivery are added to the documentation so notice can be given to Corporate, and the carrier/supplier.



  • Scan the receiving documentation to QA department for Positive Release.




Coordinate daily Shipping activities:


  • Print and evaluate product shortages each morning and request Positive Release to QA.


  • Print the daily Outbound report in Catalyst, create and submit a Request for Outbound Orders.


  • Print the Shipping Manifest, Pick Suggest by Load, and the Print Pick Slip (acknowledge Shorts).


  • Contact and schedule appointments for outbound orders with brokers/carriers and reflect on the schedule log.


  • Verify the outbound carriers sign in upon arrival and validate required Shipment Number prior to loading.


  • Fill out the Truck Inspection Form and assign shipping bay door. Coordinate with a Warehouse Associate to load the truck.


  • When loading is complete, the BOL will print automatically after ship confirmed.


  • Ensure the driver signs and dates the BOL, and make two copies, one for the file and one for the driver.


  • For Canada orders, print the Commercial Invoice by Order in Catalyst.


  • Ensure the driver signs in, and record the date on the BOL.


  • Fill out and attach the PARS label for Livingston Form. Provide two copies of the BOL, keeping the original of the Livingston form for file and giving the Commercial Invoice to the driver.


  • Ensure all documents are scanned and sent to the Broker and the carrier.


  • Report the daily shipped Chep pallet count in Portfolio.


  • Generate in Catalyst the daily capacity report, export the file into excel and post to SharePoint.


  • As needed, and at Corporate’s request, re-class aged inventory in Catalyst, confirming the re-class when finished by email.


  • Generate daily the Service report in excel, and post to SharePoint.


  • Ensures Corporate, Plant and Warehouse policies, procedures and SOPs are followed.


Inventory:


  • Participate in the quarterly Warehouse Cycle counts (Mandatory).


  • Identify, investigate and resolve inventory issues/problems, notifying management of any issues that require their engagement and intervention.


  • Facilitate daily core inventory and returns by stocking, cleaning, and organizing the warehouse.


  • Complete stock issue counts and cycle counting on schedule.


Dry, Cold Warehouse activities:


  • Assist with daily oversight and operations within the department.


  • Responsible for the integrity, accuracy and control of all materials.


  • Partners with the Warehouse Management team and other Departments on product placement and improving the overall flow of materials.


  • Ensure the work areas are maintained and cleaned daily.


  • Ensure equipment is inspected, including, but not limited to, dock doors, receiving area, and shipping area.


  • Ensure all shipping documentation is accurate and properly filled out.


  • Process and print the daily material requirements for production.


  • Notify material replenishment of any shortages or issues in materials.


  • Allocate materials in the identified staging area for production.

  • Actively supports all company safety procedures and ensures associates compliance to same.


  • Delegate and ensure all assignments are completed in a consistent and high-quality manner.


  • Support multiple job functions as needed.


  • Work in an efficient manner, ensuring the team optimizes and maximizes their productivity goals.


  • Available to work different shifts as needed.


  • Responsible for timely and effective communication to Management, team members and other Leads on issues impacting warehouse operations.


  • Act as a representative for management in meetings.


Competencies (skills, knowledge and abilities)          


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in English is required, bilingual in Spanish is a plus.


  • Math and analytical skills.


  • Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Excel and Word.


  • Knowledge of Catalyst Receiving, Shipping and Productions scripts.


  • DSI receiving, shipping and production.


  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues and challenges to effective warehouse operations, performance and compliance to SOPs.


  • Demonstrated, strong leadership abilities and a willingness to facilitate effective warehouse operations and performance targets.


  • Strong people skills, demonstrating a willingness to lead, direct, motivate, train and assist associates as needed.


Minimum General Requirements         


  • Demonstrated understanding of Inventory Management and Control procedures, processes and SOPs, including activities related to Inbound, Outbound, and Cycle Count Operations.


  • Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Excel and Word.


  • Ability to operate, and become certified in, powered-industrial equipment. (Training provided in the onboarding period.)


  • Ability to work in and meet the minimum physical requirements of the environment and position responsibilities.


  • HS Diploma or GED


Preferred Education and Experience  


  • High School Diploma/GED or higher preferred


  • 1-3 years of experience working in a warehouse environment, with emphasis on shipping and receiving operations.


  • Some experience working with systems software is helpful.


Ability to travel as required.
