Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Staff Water Resources Engineer for our team in San Diego, California. You will work with a collaborative team of civil engineers & geologists who focus on water quality monitoring program design & implementation, water resources and sustainability planning, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, water quality modeling, BMP design, post-fire hazard assessment and hydrology, erosion and sediment control, municipal, industrial, and construction site NPDES permitting support, and the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for construction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:



  • Perform hydrology/hydraulic/water quality modeling for small and large watersheds using modeling software;

  • Assist preparing technical documents including both writing and the creation of visual exhibits and maps;

  • Assist with stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance including MS4 Permits, as well as the IGP and CGP;

  • Perform field inspections for IGP and CGP projects;

  • Assist with the development of construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications; and

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients while working in concert with both senior practitioners and technical staff.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.


  • Fieldwork: Up to 25%


  • Overnight travel: Up to 25%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering. (required)

  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering. (preferred)

  • Licensure or the ability to obtain licensure as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). (required)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 2 years of directly related engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

  • Strong technical writing, project management, and communication skills. (required)

  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, HydroCAD, RUSLE2, and ArcGIS. (preferred)

  • Practical and/or applied research experience related to stormwater management, drainage design, NPDES/MS4 permitting, CGP and IGP compliance, erosion and sediment control BMPs, BMP design, and field experience. (preferred)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
