The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Site Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the sites Quality Management Systems to obtain an AS9100 certification. The individual shall identify the gaps within the existing QMS and coordinate with the Process Owners and Process Administrators to update standards, procedures, training, and change management processes to enable conformance to AS9100 and our customer-specific requirements. The individual will also coordinate with peer resources across multiple locations to share best practices, drive standardization, and improve value realization from our processes. The person will be working with manufacturing, laboratory, and quality functional leaders to design and implement simplified processes that increase customer focus, meet our requirements and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency from the updated processes.

  • Assessing existing QMS (Quality Management System) for conformance to AS9100 and applicable customer requirements.

  • Collaboratively redesigning QMS processes for simplicity and ease of use while ensuring conformance to AS9100 and Customer Requirements

  • Providing guidance to process owners / process administrators to ensure the processes are conformant to the requirements, to select metrics that will monitor effectiveness and efficiency of the process and goals/objectives that align to the priorities

  • Identifying and leading continual improvement projects associated with the internal audit process (QMS, process and product audits)

  • Performing audits to the QMS certifications for the plant and identifies improvement opportunities

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: quality, application engineering, product engineering, new product introduction, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, process engineering, project engineering, IT systems engineering, and/or research laboratory

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Experience as an auditor in ISO9001:2015

  • Experience as an auditor in AS9100

  • Experience with either ISO9001:2015 or AS9100

  • Experience redesigning QMS processes

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma 

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
