We make light productive – photonics-based solutions from UV to IR.  The global Heraeus Noblelight Group counts itself among the market and technology leaders worldwide for special lamps with wavelengths from ultraviolet to infrared for industrial, scientific, and medical applications.  Our main markets are analytics, automotive, coatings, electronics/printed electronics as well as environmental protection.  

In the USA, our total gross sales amount to approximately $60 Million. Our two production sites are located in Gaithersburg, MD and Buford, GA.  Along with manufacturing and supporting functions at both sites, one site also includes Research and Development, both sites together with a headcount of around 110 persons. With our US activities being one of the global market leaders for microwave curing systems, we have also a wide array of products including infrafred emitters and systems, gas catalytic and infrared drying ovens, UV lamps and systems as well as lamps for optics and analytics. With pride and management commitment you and the management team lead the American market launch of the SOLUVA AIR (www.soluva.com) product line, the innovative and most effective generation of air disinfection devices on the market.

Your role and responsibilities:

Management Lead Team Member for all US activities


  • While this role will report to the CFO based in Germany, your daily work as a Company Officer will be as a Management Team member of the US Lead Team that has shared responsibility for running and growing the US business.

  • Your Lead Team Management role includes all US business aspects such as strategic, operational and commercial with your focus as Head of Finance on the financial aspects.  

  • You take responsibility as a site manager for one of the two sites with high business and technical interest for the current and future product portfolio.

  • The role is characterized by operational hands on Finance and Controlling work as part of the Finance team (approx. 70% of your time) and general management as part of the US Lead Team (30%)

  • You effectively lead the local Finance team of totally three persons, further develop its role as business partner and optimize processes and procedures to improve department efficiency and effectiveness

Finance Department Responsibility

Being actively involved and lead the Finance team in its activities including:

Management Accounting


  • Department responsibility for and implementation of budget, forecast and medium-term planning processes, including the preparation of analyses, statistics and reports

  • Provide financial reports and deviation analyses to local and global senior management in a timely manner, not only including the numbers but also summarizing underlying business reasons that drive the results and providing advice on areas for improvement

  • Ensure rigorous capital expenditure review, approval, and monitoring processes and take an active role in assessing the financial attractiveness and strategic rationale of relevant investment projects

  • Provide financial analysis on relevant business matters including business cases, investments, margin analysis etc.

Finance Excellence


  • Actively drive identification and implementation of profit improvement and efficiency measures across the business and ensure rigorous tracking

  • Drive the optimization of working capital

  • Foster an optimal usage of the new SAP platform to improve reliability, quality, and timeliness of financial information and increase the degree of automation in data preparation

  • Ensure the maintenance and further development of an effective internal control framework and issue necessary guidelines, commensurate with a manufacturing company of that size

Finance Accounting, Taxation & Misc.


  • Closely interact with the Shared Service Center in Germany and the US that provide support for A/P, A/R and general ledger to ensure and improve the accuracy and timeliness of services provided (incl. preparation of vendor payments, employee payroll, cash receipts, fixed asset records, and other accounting entries)

  • Provide required information to the Regional Center for preparation of federal and state tax returns

  • Coordinate and direct the local activities relating to the annual financial audits as well as internal audits

  • Credit management for all US customer activities

  • Take responsibility of adherence for global transfer pricing requirements and interactions with intercompany business sites

  • You are the compliance officer for the US activities

What is required for this role:

Hard skills


  • Successfully completed master’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent educational background

  • At least 10 years of experience in the areas of Finance and Accounting in a manufacturing environment, thereof at least 5 years in management roles

  • Fluent in English both written and spoken

  • Experience in managing the entire spectrum of finance and accounting in a manufacturing environment including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, cash management and other related duties

  • Accounting expertise (esp. International Financial Reporting Standards)

  • Advanced Excel skills and excellent knowledge of SAP (especially FI and CO modules) including product costings processes and master data (work centers, Bom’s, Routings, activity rates/types, overheads, cost centers, machines rates, labor rates, internal orders, allocation cycles)

  • “Self-starter” with entrepreneurial spirit and ability to combine the Finance activities with general management responsibility as part of the US Lead Team 

  • Highest level of integrity and professionalism, exhibiting a high level of energy and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent leadership skills and proven track record in motivating teams

  • Well established empathy and social skills that enable the build-up of trustful relationships across the business

  • Courage and assertiveness to constructively challenge counterparts if necessary

  • Very good analytical skills, process orientation, pragmatism and accuracy
