THE ROLE
Tesla Manufacturing Engineers have the
important role of designing "The Machine that builds the Machine". We work with the cross-functional teams
(Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the
entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype
development and into full production) to develop high quality and
efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce the
power electronics that drive our cars and energy products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Development and Implementation
* Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to
support early stage prototype builds
* Design and realize manufacturing equipment for high
volume production, ranging from manual to fully automated
* Manage suppliers during concept, design, buyoff and
installation of manufacturing equipment
* Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures
for introduction to the production floor
Process Development and Implementation
* Develop new manufacturing processes
* Determine layout of production workstations for
product flow, ergonomics and efficiency
*
Perform process
analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing activities, and capacity
modeling/simulation
*
Provide DFM (Design
for Manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield
improvements
* Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to train
technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal
candidate takes pride in his/her hands-on work, analytical ability,
organizational skills and attention to detail. He/She appreciates an environment where
superior work is encouraged, noticed and rewarded, and where individuals carry
tremendous responsibility. He/She
looks forward to learning an incredible amount on the job.
