We are hiring a Director, Head of Measurements and Insights in NYC. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, Measurements and Insights (MMI) this leadership position will work with the Head of Business Marketing and Head of Comms and Marketing Strategy to represent all the client-facing research functions of Activision Blizzard Media. This includes oversight on advertising measurement, evaluating the impact and success of digital advertiser campaigns and sponsorships across Activision Blizzard Media’s mobile portfolio. You will also work with senior members of the MMI team, helping to build insight based marketing collateral and assist in custom research initiatives.

You will be a key leader of a team that spans the globe with hubs in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London.

Your role within Activision Blizzard Media

This role oversees all market-facing touchpoints for measurements and insights. This includes working with internal sales teams, advertisers, agencies and vendors on digital campaign effectiveness measurement. This role will partner with our Quantitative Research team to consult on methodologies and approaches to evaluate client executions across the Activision Blizzard portfolio in a manner that is best-in-class, in addition to being an industry spokesperson on measurement and insights with agency and brand partners, measurement vendors, and other relevant touchpoints throughout the industry.

This role will also oversee our Insights team, which is responsible for executing industry-leading research on gaming and gaming behaviors designed to elevate the profile of gaming and esports across the industry. This team also provides tactical insights for client-specific initiatives using a multitude of industry data sources, in addition to maintaining three discreet player and fan panels to yield exceptional insights about the needs of our multifaceted fans.

Finally, this role will work with other leaders on the MMI team to craft overall strategies that bring research and insights to life, with an overall goal towards educating and upleveling the profile of gaming amongst brands and advertisers.

Candidates should be deeply knowledgeable about the advertising industry, passionate about the entertainment business, and adept at weaving compelling stories from best-in-class empiricism. 

Skills to create thrills


  • At least 10 years of media research experience, ideally working in a client-facing capacity.


  • Minimum 5 years overseeing a team of research experts.


  • You’re an exceptional team leader who can mentor and teach a highly skilled and high-performing team.


  • Strong experience in campaign measurement. Ideally you will have overseen running multiple ad effectiveness research studies, the execution of campaign measurement plans, survey design, liasoning between internal team members and external vendors and clients, and analysis and presentation of results.


  • Experience ideating and launching large-scale thought leadership research studies designed to address broad advertising industry questions.


  • Strong methodological background with a unique POV on how to conduct multifaceted research projects in addition to ongoing client-specific initiatives. 


  • Experience in statistical analytics preferred. 


  • You are curious about the “why” behind data, and eager to ask questions and learn.


  • You are detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize, organize and summarize data and produce marketing insights.


  • Great interpersonal skills – able to build and maintain internal and external relationships and communicate plans and insights with a high degree of credibility.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Psychology, Economics or Social Sciences preferred; Master’s/PhD in these fields or MBA greatly preferred.


Bonus Points


  • An understanding of mobile advertising and media consumption patterns.Experience working with research vendors e.g. Millward Brown, Nielsen, comScore, and/or Ninth Decimal to run brand lift, foot traffic, and offline sales impact studies.


  • Experience interpreting and conveying information from statistical outputs (i.e. regression-based analyses, etc.). 


  • Interest in gaming across a variety of platforms (mobile, console, PC, etc.).
