LMI has an immediate need for aJunior Data Scientistto work with our client inWashington, DC (Remote applicants welcomed!). The ideal candidate will have strong data science expertise and can review human capital related information.We are looking for someone to be able totell a storyabout what the Human Capital/HR information means. This person will also serve as lead consultant to identify and collect customers' analytic requirements.
Responsibilities
TheJunior Data Scientistwill:
Have a strong data science foundation and can, with mentorship, lead data integration projects
Serve as an advisor to our NASA customer while leading development of analytics products
Collect technical requirements for the customer. Define data rules for metrics.
Catalogue HR data to showcase what is being collected in the centralized data solution
Demonstrate the ability to frame and scale data problems to analyze, visualize, and find data solutions.
Manipulate common data formats, including comma-delimited, text files, and JSON.
Transform data and analysis into informative visualizations and interactive dashboards using open-source and commercially available tools.
Derive insights and analytic narratives from data and visualizations for effective storytelling and clear communication in response to client research questions.
Merge data from multiple sources (ServiceNow API, USA Staffing, Personnel Data Warehouse - BO web query)
Work in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented environment focused on client deliverables, analysis, and reporting.
Perform HR data collection and a variety of statistical analyses using Microsoft Excel and SAS software
Conduct extensive quality control and record keeping procedures to ensure the highest levels of data integrity
Research data and develop program review materials
Research best practices procedures pertaining to performance metrics and performance standards
Develop performance metrics, conduct statistical analyses, and apply decision models to support business process, hiring, staffing and talent management understanding
Develop intuitive dashboards and data visualization products using Tableau or other data visualization tools
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in a STEM or social science related field including coursework in basic statistics and measurement is required
1-3 years of related data science or technical consulting experience
Experience working with cloud resources (AWS, GCP), and data pipelining with Alteryx, and Data Science
Experience working with tools, including object-oriented programming (Python, Java), computational analysis tools (R, MATLAB), and associated data science libraries (scikit-learn)
Experience creating meaningful data visualizations and interactive dashboards using platforms such as Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, RShiny, plotly, and d3.jsto communicate findings and relate them back to how your insights create business impact
Minimum of 1 year performing data analysis and/or creating and applying HR performance metrics is desired
Experience analyzing data from large datasets using geospatial and/or statistical analysis tools
Working knowledge of databases and SQL; preferred qualifications include linking analytic and data visualization products to database connections
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with business customers and technical teams
Preferred experience in the following areas:
Experience with Human Capital Data Analytics andability to synthesize HR/Staffing data to create meaningful information that supports decision-making
Experience working with Federal staffing data
Data science methods related to data architecture, data munging, data and feature engineering, and predictive analytics
Unstructured text and natural language processing
R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB
Talent Acquisition metrics and analyses: Job Evaluation, Recruitment, Retention, Pathways, Staffing, work backlog metrics
Developing machine learning, data mining, statistical network, natural language processing, text analytics, and graph-based algorithms to analyze massive data sets
Supervising algorithm implementation in on-premise and cloud-based computing environments
Developing software to generate reports and visualizations that summarize data sets and provide data-driven insights
Developing and implementing statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques to create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics as well as to develop statistical tests to make data-driven recommendations and decisions
