Under the oversight of the Vice President, Social & Content Strategy, the Social Media Director will be responsible for leading the creative and strategic planning and execution of our content across all of our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), as well as developing a presence on new channels to communicate with our audiences. The ideal candidate will have experience building aspirational and relevant social content for Black and multicultural Gen-Z and Millennial audiences. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is solutions-oriented, thinks outside of the box, enjoys fast-paced work and is motivated by success.
What You Will Be Doing:
Grow channels ensuring milestones are set and met; define metrics and KPIs to measure the success and impact of social efforts across channels, continuously improve performance through analysis and insights.
Responsible for working with the creative, branded content, and sales team to develop relevant video and static creatives, and copywriting - as well as determining and measuring content KPIs for our external clients.
Oversees social team production of all sales and branded social content to ensure alignment with brand voice and client expectations.
Works cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure that the social strategy is baked into every part of the editorial process.
Manages a team of Social Media Managers and Freelance Producers while creating clear processes and operations for the team.
Leads our daily/monthly organic content calendars across all social media platforms; including editing and approving all social media posts, ensuring alignment with voice, brand, and content tentpoles.
Stay current on changes to the social media landscape, industry platform updates and new techniques in consumer-facing social media opportunities.
Develops high-level social strategies for large-scale marketing and content campaigns in tandem with the VP, Social & Content Strategy.
Administering all third-party and internal social media tools and content management systems in coordination with the VP, Social & Content Strategy.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
Good editorial judgment, writing skills, and ability to capture multigenerational audience voices to reach new and established audiences.
6-8 years of social media content experience with a proven track record of increasing audience engagement, building brand equity, and driving revenue growth.
Experience leading social strategy and execution for a news & information, consumer, and/or emerging brand.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Buffer, Basecamp, CrowdTangle, Slack, Sprout Social, and Google Analytics.
Creative thinker with impeccable communication skills and team-management skills; can collaborate effectively and efficiently.
Ability to balance multiple competing directions, identify and delegate tasks effectively and manage multiple projects successfully.
Strong managerial skills and the ability to uphold an environment of learning, growth, and mentorship within a growing team.
Analytical understanding or experience with data insights a big plus.
Knowledge of, and a passion for ever-evolving social media trends, and the digital landscape at large.
Ability to work independently, quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Diligent work ethic a must; flexible weekend/evening schedules.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; must be a team player.
Exceptional communication and relationship management skills - deep cross-functional collaboration is required.
