As an Environmental Intern in our Santa Barbara, California office, you will have the opportunity to apply your environmental academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. We are seeking a part-time (approximately 20 hours/week) intern for the summer of 2021. The position requires providing project support in a variety of technical practices including contaminated site investigation, subsurface remediation, human health risk assessment, water resources, geotechnical engineering, and environmental due diligence. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assist with environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;

  • Assist with data analysis, including document review, and preparing maps, tables, and figures;

  • Assist in the management and analysis of geologic, hydrogeologic, and contaminant data;

  • Assist with groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, calculations, and implementation; and

  • Assist the preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.


EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelors degree in geology, earth sciences, environmental, civil or chemical engineering (required or completed within 12 months)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for travel to project sites. (required)

  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)

  • Engineer Intern certification. (preferred for engineering candidates)

  • Geologist in Training certification. (preferred for geology candidates)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, ArcView, MATLAB. (preferred)
