Job Description:

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to:


  • Work in a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center serving a comprehensive range of specialties including; Dermatology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Plastics, Podiatry, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.

  • Work in all areas of pre/post including Pre-op, Phase I Recovery, and Phase II Recovery.

Education:

Minimum – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Work Experience:

Minimum – One (1) year in perioperative patient care, emergency nursing, critical care or medical/surgical experience.

Preferred – One to two years of experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – State of Wisconsin RN licensure, CPR certified, and ACLS: required, or certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Preferred – PALS.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:


  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to maintain interactive/interpersonal relationships.

  • Possess a good working knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and legal aspects of nursing, and techniques, care and use of equipment used in an ambulatory surgery center setting.

  • Interview/communication skills, nursing assessment skills, critical thinking/problem solving skills, and teaching/counseling skills.

  • Computer experience with Microsoft, Windows applications and experience with health care applications.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with little supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional demeanor.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

Physical Requirements:

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:

80% FTE (32 hours per week). 8 hour shifts, Monday - Friday, hours vary between 5:30 am - 5:30 pm. No weekends or holidays. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Madison Surgery Center – a joint venture between UW Health and UnityPoint Health-Meriter. We are certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and manage fully furnished operating suites and procedural rooms, complete with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, surgical technology and anesthesia.
