Job Summary


Supports the mission of HomeTrust Bank and provides objective and professional evaluations of bank operations and internal controls over financial reporting to assist management in accomplishing their assigned responsibilities. Plans and conducts audits as assigned by the Director of Internal Audit. Gathers, examines, and evaluates information as it relates to audit objectives. Monitors the status of audit recommendations and the adequacy of follow-up actions. Assists external auditors as needed.


Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions



  • Assists in auditing areas of the bank in accordance with the annual audit plan.

  • Performs testing of internal controls over financial reporting in support of SOX compliance.

  • Follows-up with line of business personnel on correction and remediation of identified control issues.

  • Conducts research as required to ensure thorough understanding of industry standards, generally accepted accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepares audit work papers in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors professional standards.

  • Communicates effectively with all organizational levels in performing job responsibilities (external, employees, directors, managers).

  • Performs test work and evaluates compliance with bank policies and procedures.

  • Continuing education to ensure sufficient knowledge and expertise related to industry standards and regulatory requirements, as well as maintenance of professional certifications.

 


 


Your Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field required.

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or eligible candidate.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other internal audit team members. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in the use of Excel and Word.

  • Ability to read and interpret regulations, policies, and procedures and evaluate compliance.

  • Ability to evaluate processes and procedures to determine potential operational or financial risk.  

  • Ability to analyze data and think critically.

  • Human relations skills must be well developed.
