Position Summary:
Reporting to Vice President Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist delivers both strategic and operational initiatives addressing the Hospital's business needs. As a credible and effective partner, acts as an advisor to leaders, physicians and staff in developing and communicating solutions that support the unique needs of each department, while providing consistency in practices across the organization. The Generalist provides coaching and guidance, policy interpretation, executes programs and transactions, responds to complaints, recruits talent, manages employee relations issues, and helps support compliance related matters for their designated areas.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities:
- Advises assigned department leadership and staff on HR organizational issues to promote a high performance, values-based and effective organizational culture.
- Collaborates with client groups to identify and execute key opportunities to impact business priorities and demonstrate the value HR contributes.
- Fosters a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and anti-racism.
- Develops strong and productive working relationships with stakeholders and peers and become known as the "go to" person for HR contributions within the assigned areas. Works across multiple departments and functions, as appropriate, to solve complex Human Resources issues.
- Working closely with the Vice President, Human Resources and Legal team, provides guidance, coaching and direction to leaders regarding employee relations and the corrective action process. Serves as a neutral partner between manager and employee/physician to assist with the resolution of issues.
- Partners with content experts to coordinate and conduct complex investigations, drafts and communicates appropriate responses. May work closely with affiliates to complete the work and resolve issues.
- Actively partners with clients to lead full cycle recruitment activities for assigned client groups.
- Sources, screens, interviews, top talent for the Hospital. Responsible for developing recruitment strategies and leading the full-cycle or recruitment activity from identifying and interviewing candidates, to referring talent to managers, keeping candidates informed, and facilitating the hiring of qualified talent.
- Administers the Leave of Absence policies and programs for assigned client areas. Works with Employee Health, Legal and direct manager to resolve issues, ensure appropriate accommodations and timely communication with employees.
- Act as a change agent with client groups and within Human Resources. Seeks and creates solutions to operational challenges. Challenges the status quo and looks to solve issues through the lens of doing what is right, improving operational efficiency and overall effectiveness.
- Utilizes internal and external data and benchmarks to address organizational challenges and measure the results of initiatives. May conduct exit interviews for assigned areas.
- Participates in the implementation of new policies, systems and/or procedures for both assigned areas and within Human Resources. Is the HR liaison for new initiatives requiring HR input, representation and communication.
- Ensures the departmental business and operational needs are reflected in the development and implementation of HR policies, programs and tools.
- Responsible for maintaining specialized expertise in key HR content areas to ensure knowledge sharing, cross-training, and ownership of key initiatives within the small group of HR professionals.
- Participates in the rotation of New Employee Orientation and coordinates they speaker series for days assigned.
- Assumes the role of mentor for those who support the HR Generalist role.
- Stays abreast of local, state and federal regulations governing HR practice and business operations to ensure programming meets all requirements.
