Job Description

This position will provide leadership, project management and strategic and functional support to distribution operations and projects, with a key focus and accountability for the following areas:  


  • Distribution Network Productivity Management


  • KCNA Mill Materials Storage and Flow


  • KCNA Digital Supply-Chain Transformation Leadership for Physical Automation


Position Purpose

This position will provide leadership, project management and strategic and functional support to distribution operations and projects, with a key focus and accountability for the following areas: 


  • Distribution Network Productivity Management


  • KCNA Mill Materials Storage and Flow


  • KCNA Digital Supply-Chain Transformation Leadership for Physical Automation


Key Responsibilities


  • Partner with Site & Staff Distribution teams, and 3PL partners, to lead the development and implementation of a labor productivity management system and related improvement programs designed to achieve sustainable, best-in-class productivity results versus defined engineering standards


  • Partner with cross-functional and 3PL partners, suppliers, and site & staff Logistics teams to lead the development and implementation of Material Storage and Flow strategies and best practices, including optimizing storage efficiency, accurately projecting space utilization, ensuring efficient materials movement and service to the production assets, and developing a related labor management system


  • Partner with the KCNA Business Units, cross-functional and 3PL partners, suppliers, and site & staff Distribution and Manufacturing teams to lead the strategy development for Physical Automation as program leader on the KCNA Digital Supply-Chain Transformation team


  • Actively support Talent Development for the KCNA Distribution Team through coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and participating in interviewing/talent acquisition process


  • Develop and drive Logistics strategies at plant attached DCs in conjunction with site Logistics Leaders around Finished Goods / Materials storage and flow


  • Create and own processes to build Logistics standardization across plant DCs


  • Facilitate strategic collaboration with Planning and Manufacturing to drive continuous improvement in end-to-end KC supply chain execution


  • Identify and support implementation of distribution programs designed to deliver external cost savings (ECS)


  • Take operational ownership of key DC initiatives as needed, ensuring effective project management, including new DC start-up activities


Qualifications/Education/Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field


  • 10+ years of experience in end-to-end supply chain functions


  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop Talent


  • Applies in-depth advanced Logistics knowledge and skills with understanding of external environment factors that may affect successful mill/DC operations and results


  • Ability to learn quickly, be individually motivated and self-direct work


  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal


  • Must be able to effectively influence and provide distribution/logistics network leadership for multi-function programs and issues.


  • Provides expert Logistics advice, coaching and counseling to cross functional partners and supply-chain leaders


  • Capability to facilitate projects/focus groups in a cross functional team environment


  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, dependent on project activity and business needs


  • Preference given to strong prior experience in Planning or Manufacturing
