Job Description



Carrier Servicing Systems is seeking a highly motivated entry level mechanical engineer to join a world-class team developing and maintaining the equipment and procedures for refueling FORD Class aircraft carriers, as well as other carrier reactor servicing initiatives. Responsibilities include novel and complex equipment design, structural analysis, alignment studies, drawings, procedures, and operating requirements. This will require the performance of a broad range of mechanical design skills using fundamental mechanical engineering concepts, as well as in-depth structural analysis techniques, hands-on lab development of hardware and processes, proof of principle testing, and project documentation. This challenging position offers opportunities to develop and expand technical skills through complex assignments, interpersonal skills through numerous interfaces, and leadership skills through various team assignments. Specific interfaces include numerous stakeholders and support groups at NNL, BPMI, servicing facilities, and Naval Reactors.

Minimal travel is required.







Required Skills



Associate:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.

Intermediate:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or

  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or

  • Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or

  • SRE Qualification.







Preferred Skills




  • Excellent oral and written communication.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, systems-level thinking, and attention to detail.

  • Hands-on experience.

  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and potential.

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and 3D solid modeling.

  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
