Youth Sports Camp Lead - South Meridian YMCA at TREASURE VALLEY FAMILY YMCA in Meridian, Idaho

Job Description:

Treasure Valley Family YMCA Summer Sports Camps give kids an opportunity to lean new skills, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting memories in a fun and supportive environment. This position is responsible for the planning, leading, and implementing of Youth Sports Camps programs for youth in a group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of the participants in their group.

Responsibilities:

Function as point person for assigned program site.
Handle and resolve participant concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff, and volunteers at assigned program areas.
Provide leadership through organizing, supervising, and facilitating youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, in a variety of weather conditions.
Communicate sport-specific and YMCA rules and regulations to participants.
Ensure program facility, equipment is ready for use and deemed safe, including storage areas are clean and organized.
Promote inclusiveness and community amongst participants and others in program.
Stay informed of youth program offerings and cross promote when appropriate.


Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age.
General understanding of sports structure, rules and regulations.
Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.


Physical Demands:

Continuous: standing, walking, jogging.
Frequently: stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending at the waist, twisting, balancing, squatting, crawling, standing in place.
Occasionally: running, lifting/moving equipment up to 45 lbs.


Schedule Requirements:
This is a part-time, seasonal position over the summer. Typical hours will be Monday-Friday 8:00am-1:00pm.
