SUMMARY: Responsible for advising and assisting management in administration of labor relations policies and programs as it relates to collective bargaining agreements, labor contracts, personnel policies and procedures.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the administration of collective bargaining agreements involving marine and shore side unionized employees. Assist management with addressing employee discipline and job performance issues. Review collective bargaining agreement and may contribute to contract negotiations. Take the lead role when investigating employee and/or third-party complaints. Participate in grievance hearings, arbitrations and contract negotiations. Works with the Payroll department to ensure payroll and benefit contributions are administered correctly. Utilize CRM for documenting work product. May maintain files and records including all transactions performed for union personnel. Responsible for day to day administration of programs and processes covering serveral or all of the following: full cycle recruitment, terminations, and employee relations completing all the administrative tasks required to support these functions, including utilize Oracle and Kronos systems. Compliance responsibilities (gov insurance, license permits, etc.)

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in management and operations, labor and industrial relations or a related field; or a combination of post high school and experience equal to two (2 years). Bilingual (English & Spanish)

EXPERIENCE: 2 or more years of directly related experience interacting with blue collar organized labor and experience interviewing and investigating employee and/or third party complaints preferable.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Dynamics CRM.Ability to work long hours and travel on short notice as required. Experience in Kronos and Oracle, preferable.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trend, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations related to the administration of labor relations. Knowledge of the principles, practices and standards of human resources and labor relations administration. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate effectiveness with contract negotiation and administration as well as the ability to execute contracts in compliance with corporate guidelines.

OTHER: Ability to work long hours and travel on short notice as required. Ability to learn the specifics of the operation and HRMS system.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts the entire organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.

FLSA STATUS: The position is Exempt. May require the ability to work overtime to meet required deadlines. All work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health are expected to be respected and complied with.
