Job Description



Our building engineering team assesses the structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in facilities with an emphasis on efficiency and quality.

We are seeking a Commissioning Agent/Authority for our Building Engineering Market.

The successful candidate should be able to participate and learn the following commissioning related actives:


  • Prepare project specific commissioning scope of services and assist in budgeting.

  • Provide peer review of documents for constructability and commission-ability.

  • Prepare commissioning plans (pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests) and review plans for completeness.

  • Review contractor submittals for compliance to contract documents.

  • Schedule and coordinate commissioning site visits and deliverables for projects.

  • Travel to active project sites to perform commissioning activities (in a safe and professional manner).

  • Compose and issue commissioning site visit reports.

  • Review trends for performance.

  • Reviews and sample TAB reports.

  • Review training and O&M materials provided by contractors.

  • Prepare final commissioning reports for projects.

  • Additional commissioning activities as may be required.

The successful candidate should be able to follow design/design assistance related actives:


  • Review Gresham Smith mechanical sequences of operations and details for optimal performance and implementation.

  • Perform Construction Administration for Gresham Smith designs.

  • Review contractor submittals for compliance to contract documents.

  • Perform due diligence studies on existing buildings.

  • Participate in contract bidding and administration. Observe ongoing progress of a project.

  • Assist in coordination of projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants and firm staff. Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project.

  • Assist in resolving a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).







Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering OR 4 years of experience working for a mechanical contractor and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must be able to travel regularly on a flexible schedule.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical system installation and operation with building automation system interface.

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to train others in all activities listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a commissioning agent, mechanical contractor, or EIT.

  • Commissioning Authority (CxA) or other commissioning certification.

  • Professional Engineering registration is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated knowledge using the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong team player.
