Job Description:

TITLE:  Executive Director of Administration & Operations – Cancer Center

 

POSITION INFORMATION: Serves as the top business administrator for the administration and operations of the Stephenson Cancer Center. Develops policies, procedures, and goals. Oversees the entire budget process for the department, resolves problems, oversees finance, human resources, and operations of the center, manages personnel, communicates effectively with staff, and implements programs and procedures that align with the Cancer Center mission and maximizes the effectiveness of assigned operations, administrative oversight, and support.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:



  1. Fiscal Operations.  Oversees general accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, financial planning and reporting, approval of expenditures, etc.


  2. Policy Development.  Assists in the development and implementation of clinical or operational procedures in compliance with the University, NIH, NCI, Federal, and State guidelines. Develops strategic and operating plans and standardizes centralized clinical and research operations. Recommends improvements to existing policies and procedures.


  3. Business Strategy. Develops and implements strategic and business goals of the organization. Manages projects for growth and revenue enhancement. Plans, models, and analyzes growth opportunities of the NCI designated-Cancer Center.


  4. Budget Operations. Oversees the development and implementation of the annual budget, and certain Cancer Center initiatives. Works with subordinate Directors and senior leadership, as well as faculty and physicians to ensure operations are compliant with approved budgets. Participates in review of expenditures and makes recommendations for fiscal improvement.


  5. Human Resources Operations. Oversees faculty recruitment process and SCC Employee Development; works with the SCC Employee Development team to Supervise the activities and recruitment / performance of the department’s non-faculty staff.  Accountable for managing the department’s human resources according to University policies and guidelines. Oversees problem resolution in conjunction with operations directors and SCC leadership.


  6. Information Technology.  Oversees the department’s IT operations and services; coordinates IT-related activities with central IT services and other departments and colleges as appropriate.


  7. Facilities Operations. Oversees the Facilities Management of the Stephenson Cancer Center, works with Facilities Manager for project implementation and improvement of the center.


  8. Development. May be involved in development activities of the department and/or college such as marketing, fund raising events, etc.


  9. As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

 

Experience:  60 months experience in health care administration, business administration, organizational management, professional accounting, or billing with demonstrated competence in the development and implementation of related programs and management of resources.
