Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, brokers and other business partners in the handling of complex Environmental Severity claims.


• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions, as warranted, under direction of supervisor and coverage unit.


• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages.


• Directs and closely monitors assignments to experts and defense counsel.


• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.


• Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations to management concerning reserve changes to supervisor.


• Willing and able to travel to conferences, mediations, settlement conferences and trials as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and/or previous environmental experience or JD preferred

• Knowledge of insurance industry and minimum of 3-5 years experience handling environmental or casualty claims.


• Extensive knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, and procedures


• Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook


• Ability and willingness to travel as necessary
