Job Description:








HR Directions seeks a prospect for its client RTI International for the Food Security & Agriculture Internship within the Food Security and Agriculture division in the International Development Group.



The Food Security and Agriculture division is made up 25+ home office staff across RTI's DC and North Carolina offices. The team implements programs for clients including USAID and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The FS&A team also includes teams of staff in Kenya, Somalia, Latin America, and Cambodia where we currently implement multi-million dollarprojects. Our technical areas of focus include:


  • Agriculture and agribusiness

  • Nutrition, including research and early childhood development

  • Monitoring, evaluation, and learning

The Food Security & Agriculture Intern will support the implementation of FS&A's ongoing projects. The intern will be expected to collaborate with and contribute to on-going project work driving the success of the division's project implementation and/or business development initiatives.

Responsibilities


  • Providing day-to-day project management support to Project Associates and Project Coordinators as needed

  • Organizing, reviewing and managing electronic project and proposal files

  • Conduct select market research activities, such as client, competitor, and market trends

  • Copy editing and formatting project deliverables and communications products; redacting reports and preparing

    alternative text; posting reports to the Development Experience Clearing House (DEC)

  • Processing expense reports, subcontractor invoices, and consulting agreements

Additional Information

This paid virtual internship will take place from June 2021through August 2021. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 15hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours Monday through Friday.








Required Qualifications


  • Recent 2021 degree recipient, advanced (junior or senior) undergraduate, or graduate student pursuing a degree in the following fields: International affairs, public or business administration, political science, economics, agriculture, public health, sustainbility, climate change/resilience, orother relevant field

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English

  • Ability to manage multiple activities or projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter, able to think creatively and work independently and within a team

  • Proactive communicator

Preferred Qualifications


  • Interest in international development and business development

  • French, Spanish or additional language skills

  • Experience working in an office environment and/or in customer service
