While the Corporate Accounting (EFR) Team at HPE ensures correct and accurate financial statements at the consolidated level, the Legal Entity Accounting (LEA) Team within the Region Controllership Organization works with each country to ensure that both US GAAP and local GAAP financial statements are properly stated at the individual legal entity level. We implement, own, and execute processes to ensure that all Transfer Pricing and Tax planning transactions are properly reflected across the entities. Further, we partner closely with the Income Tax Accounting Group (ITAG) in preparation of the company’s quarterly income tax provision. Our team is uniquely positioned within the HPE Finance Organization. As a truly global team our scope and influence extend across regions geographically and across all businesses, affording us the opportunity to be at the cutting edge of planning and strategy implementation. This high visibility role will engage frequently with senior finance leaders, controllers in countries around the world, HPE’s Corporate Reporting (EFR) and Tax Teams, and external auditors and consultants.
Engage with business and IT teams as HPE deploys new go-to-market and business models to help design the accounting and controls for success.
Determine proper accounting treatment for complex business transactions; and tax planning as it relates to intellectual property, supply chain, or transfer pricing; taking into account US and International GAAP; and coordinate the bookings across entities
Provide deep technical accounting support for HPE international entities in preparation of their statutory financial statements
Support external and internal audits, including building strong controls and improving, standardizing, and documenting processes
Drive implementation of new accounting standards in the consolidated and local books of international entities
Partner with countries and LEA peers to deliver quarterly entity level financial forecasts in support of the income tax provision preparation
Provide deep analysis of the US Balance Sheet to ensure it is properly stated and reflective of underlying business transactions, help build quality analytics, and drive controls
Education and Experience Required:
First level university degree with a focus in accounting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license a strong plus
At least 5 years of overall accounting or finance experience
At least 3 years of GAAP experience, either in public accounting or large multi-national
Knowledge and Skills:
Superior understanding of US or International accounting principles and ability to apply them to complex business transactions
Excellent working knowledge of financial statements
Strong understanding of audit and controls
Excellent communication skills to a wide variety of audiences
Strong influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive virtual teams toward a common goal
Working knowledge of leading ERP systems
