The Powertrain Integration and Performance team is looking for a driven Powertrain Development Engineer. The successful candidate will support the development and optimization of the next generation of PACCAR Heavy-duty Powertrains through a thorough knowledge of powertrain hardware, software and controls prototyping coupled with a solid view of product commercialization.

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.
Define the Vehicle product description book (PDB) for the NA powertrain in collaboration with PACCAR Divisions to meet future legislative and market challenges
Develop the technology readiness requirements in collaboration with PACCAR Divisions to meet the PDB
Lead the evaluation of Powertrain and Powertrain integration technologies including electrified components and systems
Define and develop product systems goals and strategies in collaboration with PACCAR Truck Divisions
Work with Embedded, Vehicle and Engine Development teams to define functional requirements and functional architecture specifications
Work with Divisions Vehicle Integration to decompose functional requirements to Engineering requirements and specifications
Support the creation and execution of the advanced product quality planning (APQP) process for PCP
Collaborate with PACCAR Divisions in the development of the NA PACCAR Powertrain application matrix
Work with PACCAR Division engineering design teams to define the testing envelop for NA PACCAR Powertrain
Support PACCAR Quality, Engineering and Program Management with the understanding and mitigation of technology and product integration risk.
Support the technical analysis on benchmarking of PACCAR and competitive powertrain systems for heavy and medium-duty vehicles.
Support powertrain test cell activities for powertrain software development, integration and optimization including advanced predictive features.
Provide technical guidance to PACCAR global powertrain teams on new powertrain strategies including Advanced Predictive Features, electrification and other powertrain focused efficiency measures.
Actively participate in the development, verification, release and implementation of powertrain software for NA production and NA aftermarket.
Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry
Sound knowledge of simulation and modeling tools for, Advanced Predictive Features, as well as engine and transmission control systems
Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required
Previously demonstrated ability to manage large, complex projects required
Prior experience developing and testing powertrain products for commercial vehicles required
Sound knowledge of test cell and in vehicle performance calibration, calibration tools, OBD, and engine control systems
Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including the delivery of formal presentations
Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop trusting business relationships
Knowledge of the Advanced Product Quality Process preferred
Ability to travel up to 20%
Sound knowledge of simulation and modeling tools for, Advanced Predictive Features, as well as engine and transmission control systems
BS degree in technical field required
MS preferred
A strong understanding of heavy-duty powertrain dynamics
Heavy-duty powertrain design experience
