Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Technical Center is looking for a software engineer to assist with improvements in data collection, archival, analysis and reporting workflows for various programs, as well as improvements in the software calibration and release workflows. The engineer will have an opportunity to utilize a variety of technologies along with core engineering and computer science fundamentals to achieve this goal. This role has a strong potential to continue to make a significant impact in the long term.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will perform the following roles:


  • Develop robust software to assist with data archival, analysis, and reporting utilizing a variety of technologies

  • Research and develop methods to improve remote engineering data collection processes at the PACCAR Technical Center

  • Develop applications to automate processes for the software release and software configuration management teams

  • Improve existing documentation and write new documentation

Qualifications & Skills

Requirements for the position include:


  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science/Electrical Engineering)

  • At least two years of experience in a professional environment

  • Availability to work on-site

  • Ability to travel upto 10%, including international travel

  • Use of version control systems (SVN, Git)

  • Strong programming skills required, object oriented design/development (MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Java, C, C++, C#, embedded software development)

  • Database development experience

  • Strong attention to detail, a passion to solve problems and develop robust solutions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to work in a lean setting

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Mobile app development experience a plus

  • Experience with machine learning a plus

  • Familiarity with control systems a plus

  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics modeling and OBD systems a plus

  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet) a plus

  • Experience with CANalyzer, CANape, ETAS Inca and/or ATI Vision a plus

  • Knowledge of the automotive industry in general and the commercial vehicle industry in particular a plus
