About the Position

About the Position:
The Account Representative will manage day-to-day activities and execution of our customer connection – follow established contract review procedures and provide accurate quoting, order entry, status, shipments, returns, credits; customer portals; being proactive when dealing with the customer and heading off issues before they arise; thanking the customer for their business.

This role is to be considered a key role for on-boarding of high quality talent for further development within SMP. The successful candidate will reside in the position for two to three years and then be promoted to increasing levels of responsibility within SMP. As such, the candidate should know at the outset that if successful, the opportunity exists and the expectation is that they will move to other SMP locations and other SMP functional areas such as; Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations Supervision, Finance and or a larger Commercial role.

Position Requirements:
Serve as the liaison, the glue and the driver of issue resolution between the customer, plant, quality, supply chain and finance to pull together all necessary resources to support the customer need, including resolving any issue.

Ensure complete and accurate backlog and sales forecasting through timely and precise order entry.

Issue quotations to new and existing customer by working across functional boundaries to develop lead time, pricing, minimum order quantities, and terms.

Drive customer satisfaction – present data and make recommendations as to course of action to business leaders to resolve complex customer issues.

Position Requirements:
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related field of study.
• Clear, proactive communicator.
• Willingness to cross functional boundaries within the organization.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Customer centric with proven record of relationship management.
• Ability to work in tactical administrative team environment from focused problem solving to customer care and support throughout any given day – admin activities to problems solving/decision making (both ends of the spectrum).
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to make recommendations with limited information and changing situations.
Self-starter, high level of initiative.
• Intensely detail focused, but able to see the larger picture as well.
• Ability to manage and organize large volumes of information from multiple sources.
• Data driven.
• Willing to use independent judgement as appropriate.
• Open to diverse points of view.
• Seeking a dynamic and challenging work environment.

• Competency with Excel
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain, Business, or Communication from an accredited institution.
