The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Process Engineer will support the Nickel-Plating tooling operations in the Film and Materials Resource Division (FMRD) plant in Menomonie, WI.  This individual will provide daily technical support to the tooling manufacturing group operating on a 24/7 schedule. 

As a Manufacturing Technologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Participating in and/or lead NPI projects.

  • Building master tooling and coordinating development with the parent division.

  • Coordinating and building archival tooling and manage archival and working tooling inventory.

  • Improving key performance measures for assigned processes to improve equipment performance (OEE/CEE).

  • Identifying key process indicators and providing action plans using Statistical Process Control.

  • Implementing new processes and equipment to advance overall capability and reliability.

  • Utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles including Kaizen events and 5S audits to drive continuous improvement activities.

  • Providing technical leadership to production personnel through active participation at daily manufacturing tier meetings.

  • Developing a partnership and cooperative effort with manufacturing engineers and plant engineering personnel to support equipment reliability.

  • Supporting 24x7 continuous manufacturing.

  • Supporting business strategic direction with manufacturing scale-up of new products, product & quality system improvements.

  • Develop and track metrics to monitor product performance for areas such as yield, quality improvement, customer complaints, and on hold material inventory. 

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:


  • High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) combined years of manufacturing experience in electroplating and/or CNC machining operations

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Technical certificate from an accredited university

  • CNC Machining experience in milling, grinding, and/or turning operations

  • Five (5) years of experience with 3M manufacturing systems including MES, MDI, VantagePoint

  • Experience with nickel electroforming processes

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong project management, networking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-directed, hands on, self-starter, have broad interests and willingness to explore new areas

  • Experience leading or participating in NPI projects. 

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training or certification

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
