About the Opportunity:

We are looking for someone who can further drive our strategic priorities across water & waste management by joining us in this newly created position to provide leadership and guidance to our worldwide mining, refining and smelting operations. Bringing your wealth of expertise in water and waste management to the team, you will define, direct, and deliver strategic initiatives with clear measurements and monitoring in place to communicate effectively the progress being achieved and ensuring delivery against our company objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
Define Alcoa's position on water and waste management that aligns with our strategic priority of Advancing Sustainably.
Develop, implement, and support global policies, standards, and initiatives and strategies to foster financial and environmental risk mitigation.
Understand global trends and compliance headwinds incorporating strategies to address headwinds and minimize risk into company standards and initiatives.
Measure and communicate goal-setting process, and drive progress.
Actively contribute to reporting initiatives (e.g., GRI, CDP, DJSI) and aligning internal data management and reporting systems to support key indicators and reporting needs.
Represent and provide feedback to industry, government, and academic forums (eg. ASI, ICMM, IAI) representing Alcoa's needs and interests.
Serve as an advisor to the organization regarding strategic decision-making on water and waste management issues.
Work closely with the Continuous Improvement and Asset Management Centre of Excellence to identify and implement sustainable technical improvement opportunities for water and waste.

About you:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Post-graduate qualification in environmental science or related field, or significant proven experience within the manufacturing/mineral processing industry.
Substantial career experience in water and waste management.
Ability to assimilate and analyse information from a variety of sources to solve complex environmental challenges.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience developing positive and effective working relationships.
Ability to collaborate with others to advance water and waste strategies.
Ability to represent the company at high-level meetings and international forums.
Ability to influence people outside direct reporting structure
Previous experience in the resources sector in an environmental research or management capacity.
