Responsible for the service, calibration, installation and testing of all instrumentation, including PLC software and hardware.
Effectively troubleshoot electrical, instrument and mechanical problems in the field.
Supervises outside contractor/technicians performing in-plant control system repairs/upgrades.
Understand, execute and follow all life critical procedures in the execution of maintenance activities.
Implements control system improvements that ensure manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications, regulatory safety standards and user requirements.
Executes program changes to process PLCs at the direction of qualified engineers.
Assist with LAN troubleshooting as required
Repairs, installs and services all plant equipment 480V and below.
Executes all tasks necessary as assigned to support plant operations
Tests all work for proper operation prior to turnover to production.
Provides feedback to supervision pertaining to out of calibration instrumentation and any abnormal equipment observations
Maintains a clean, organized shop and clean design practices during day to day work activities.
Follows planning/ scheduling protocols for the completion and documentation of work order status
Maintains proficiencies in the following areas:
Reading and understanding PIDs, electrical prints, equipment drawings and PLC ladder logic and control loop drawings.
General PC network interfacing and LAN troubleshooting
General instrumentation, electronic and pneumatic
Electrical power, conduit and electrical wiring installation for hazardous and non hazardous installation
General troubleshooting
General mechanical - assists in the repair of equipment as needed
Qualification/Experience Required
Associates degree in electronics or equivalent technician training
5 years of experience in electrical and controls in manufacturing environment.
5 years of experience in calibrating, testing and troubleshooting both pneumatic and electronic instruments.
Familiarity with flow meters, RTD's, pressure, Ultrasonic and radar level instruments.
Working knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic
Basic skills in MS Office; knowledge of SAP preferred
Must be able to climb ladders and work at significant heights
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; both to carry and to lift overhead.
Must be able to wear a respirator and enter confined spaces
