Position Description:
AMETEK Precitech, Inc., headquartered in Keene, New Hampshire, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of ultra precision machining solutions distributed globally.

The Buyer Planner reports directly to the Materials Manager and is responsible for day-to-day effective purchasing of direct and indirect material and contracted services for manufactured components. The Buyer Planner will maintain material flow in their area of responsibility along with development and execution of strategic commodity plans and procurement process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, ability to think strategically, and excellent problem solving, communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills. Success will be measured through tracked results in the areas of P.P.V. (purchase price variance), On Time Delivery, inventory turns, and supplier performance. Success will also be measured by the individual’s ability to develop and implement well planned and creative commodity plans and material flow process improvements.

Position Requirements:
Specific Duties

• Support 95% on-time delivery to customer request dates.
• Ensures 99.5% supplier quality; communicates discrepancies as required.
• Achieve P.P.V. goals for commodities of responsibility.
• Achieves inventory and DPO improvement goals.
• Procurement of direct and indirect materials for designated areas of responsibility.
• Assists with scheduling and work order releases in responsible areas.
• Supports level-loading (heijunka) plan and all material kitting processes in areas of responsibility.
• Performs inventory management activities including MRP review, Kanban management, card resizing, material presentation at the assembly area.
• Supports Accounting Department with all payments and invoice discrepancies related to purchase orders in his / her areas of responsibility.
• Develops new vendor relationships and procurement channels necessary to support business and supply chain objectives.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes including metallurgy
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation to include prints, specifications, and tolerancing
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lean manufacturing or similar type of environment
• Ability to effectively negotiate price, quality, delivery, and other terms with suppliers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proactive: bias for action - sense of urgency
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Highest level of personal, professional, and ethical conduct
• Creativity
