Job Description:

Sr. Product Owner

Job Responsibilities:



  • Accountable for decision making related to the execution and delivery of prioritized features.

  • Set guidelines and ask thought provoking questions for the scrum team to determine the level of detail and expected quality within the developing story.

  • Work with Product Managers to ensure team project goals are in alignment to the organizational goals and strategies.

  • Understand the needs of the clients related to the product through collaboration with the subject matter experts (SMEs), and business partners, to clearly communicate and define the product vision and clients' needs to the scrum team(s.)

  • Communicate product vision and stakeholder value to prioritize solutions in support of business investments and value related to product backlog.

  • Conduct research and analysis to ensure that the appropriate information and context is available for the scrum team(s) to conduct productive story writing sessions.

  • Document and create system processes, business rules, and logic needed to develop business processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Collaborate and direct scrum team(s) to create, review, and refine planning strategy into consumable stories for delivery within an iteration.

  • Ensure stories are written at the appropriate level to allow the team to deliver value frequently and effectively.

  • Provide assistance to fellow Product Owner(s) with managing feature and/or story maps to help them facilitate product strategy decisions, release planning, and prioritization of work.

  • Assist fellow Product Owners with defining what business value means to the client and how to assess each feature/story based on that business value to help maximize the value the team delivers.

  • Mentor, coach, lead, and develop fellow product owners.

  • May serve as the lead Product Owner to oversee several scrum teams' prioritized backlogs depending on business needs.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or related field.


Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience as a product owner/manager working with business stakeholders.

  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.


Licenses/Certifications -

Required:


  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO, or PSPO I & II).


Preferred:


  • Pragmatic Marketing Genius certification(s).

  • Scrum Master certification.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Knowledge and understanding of Agile development process.

  • Knowledge of advanced proficiency in various technical and software delivery programs and methodologies utilized in product management and development.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, that can be applied across a diverse set of audiences.

  • Advanced ability to gather business requirements, create process flows, and use cases to develop and deliver on business capabilities within the approved methodology. Includes writing user stories and following the development process through user story acceptance.

  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional planning, communication, and presentation skills along with a strong technical acumen.

  • Ability to lead remote and international scrum teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to collaborate and work autonomously.

  • Ability to influence and lead a team of professionals toward a common goal/vision.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving, and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to reconcile key stakeholder interests, conflicting priorities, and business strategy and influence without formal management authority.

  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts throughout the entire life cycle of a product.


Job Summary:

The Sr. Product Owner is accountable for the tactical execution of the strategic plan of various new comprehensive products, services, and or current product enhancements. The Sr. Product Owner will ensure appropriate upfront research and analysis are conducted, and that the teams' backlogs are adequately refined. The incumbent may be responsible for more than one scrum team and will lead, coach, and mentor fellow product owners.
