Overview

LMI is seeking Administrative Managers to work with consumer advocacy groups and patient advocates serving on peer review panels focused on specialized medical research areas in support of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) office. The position will be at our headquarters offices in Tysons Corner, VA and/or Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities

    Recruit, coordinate, manage, train, and support individuals from consumer/patient advocacy groups to participate in scientific peer reviews.
  • Conduct consumer and patient outreach, recruitment and training of subject matter experts in specialized medical research areas.

  • Administer review meetings, panel orientations, panel scoring and discussions.

  • Maintain contacts with a broad representation of active consumer advocacy and support organizations.

  • Provide guidance and instruction to reviewers and relaying updated policies, guidelines and criteria.

  • Prepare and distribute information to recruit consumer reviewers.

  • Provide updates during the consumer recruitment period on consumer recruitment accomplishments, barriers to recruitment, etc. on a monthly basis or as needed.

  • Devise and implement strategies for recruiting consumer reviewers representative of the community affected by the disease/condition, including representation of diverse and minority populations/groups and military veterans.

  • Perform quality control of reviewer critiques to ensure information is complete, accurate and that information is properly captured.

  • Solicit nominations from consumer/advocacy support groups for upcoming peer reviews, evaluate nominations and select consumer reviewers

Qualifications


  • Master's or advanced degree in a biomedical or scientific discipline required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.

  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate with staff at various levels (administrative, scientific, technical, and managerial).

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Desired: proficient knowledge of the peer review and/or grants management process.

  • Desired: previous experience in cancer research, cancer prevention, or related areas.
