Job Summary

Define, plan and execute on the technology roadmap for addressing the latest technology trendsin 5/6G, WiFi/BT, GPS, UWB and other broad-market IoT RF Front-end in partnership with internal and external partners, such as semiconductor foundries, OEM's, OSATs, startups, industry consortia, and academia.

In order to lead the execution of technology roadmap you should have a deep understanding of RF Semiconductor industry, device physics, device modeling, advanced compound semiconductor technologies, RFIC and multi-chip module design, and must have a strong ability to intercept inflection points in the industry that are in the medium to long term based on this understanding.

You will work closely with strategic marketing, design engineering, startup ecosystem and other strategic partners to bring new technologies from inception to very high volume production.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:


  • Manage the company's advanced R&D resources to achieve the CEO's strategic vision

  • Lead a team of advanced R&D Engineers for 3 - 5 year technology roadmaps for RF SOI, Compound Semiconductor, RF MEMs, devices modeling and advanced packaging for cellular RF Front-end modules

  • Lead strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies

  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments and product lines to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports business needs

  • Develop and communicate business/technology alignment plans to executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders

  • Define, prioritize, approve, and manage funding activities to meet advanced R&D goals of the company, including external foundry, IP licensing and NRE funding

  • Act as the primary liaison for the company's technology vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads, and end users

  • Prioritize and oversee patenting of intellectual property, inventions, and business processes

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)


  • 20 years of demonstrated technical leadership experience in advance RF semiconductor technology development

  • Proven track record in initiating, defining and leading technology development projects across organization boundaries in the semiconductor industry on time and budget

  • Scaling RF semiconductor technology development to very high-volume production

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, with deep technical understanding of the latest RF Front-end technology trends in smart phones, wireless infrastructure, and broad market IoTsapplications

  • Previous experience in technology development for RF SOI, GaAs, GaN, SiGe, RF MEMs, 2/3D packaging is highly desired

  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property and patent prosecution laws

Minimum Education Requirements


  • Ph.D. in EE or related field is strongly preferred; MSEE or above is required
