Group Description:

The Cyber Operations and Analysis Technology (COAT) Group (Group 57) focuses on enabling the warfighter as well as improving the security posture of operational systems through development and deployment of cyber technologies. The COAT team is comprised of cyber security architects, artificial intelligence experts, software engineers and developers, human machine teaming and usable security experts, network security analysts, and systems analysts who work in small teams to perform applied research and develop innovative technical solutions.

Job Description:

As a Cyber Security and Human Machine Teaming Researcher, you will join our team developing innovative technology meeting current cyber security operational needs and directly impacting national security. Your primary role will be working with a team of researchers to identify, design, and develop cyber security technology that is needed to meet warfighter and operational system needs. For many of these projects, you will analyze systems and data to identify most effective means of human-machine teaming (HMT) and implement those mechanisms. Research will involve studying emerging cyber security technology and threats as well as state-of-the-art HMT. Results will impact programs of national importance and potentially be published in academic conferences and journals.

Requirements:


  • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Applied Mathematics or a related field. In lieu of an MS, a BS and 3 years of experience will be considered

  • Cyber Security knowledge gained through education (concentration, minor or major) or 2-years related experience

  • Human-machine teaming, user-centered design, or similar knowledge gained through an education concentration or 2 years related experience

  • Ability to propose and explore new techniques and technologies and be able to design, develop, test, and validate these new capabilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate with external contacts, such as government sponsors and colleagues at other research institutions

  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level DoD security clearance

Desired Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of C/C++, Python, Java, Javascript, React, D3 and/or R

  • Docker and/or Flask experience

  • Human-AI interaction and human-machine teaming

  • Human cognitive, behavioral, and/or decision science

  • Working knowledge of Applied Mathematics or Statistics

  • System, software, network, or web security experience

  • UI development experience
