Sr HR Generalist, Senior Human Resources Generalist

POSITION DETAILS - Senior Human Resource Generalist

Position Summary

This Senior Human Resources Generalist, under the general supervision of the Senior Human Resources Manager, will be responsible for a full range of generalist Human Resources functions including talent sourcing and selection; employee relations, retention, first level investigation, EH&S and CIRCOR Operating System (COS), conflict avoidance and resolution; HR data entry, accuracy and reporting; compensation analysis; training program development and delivery; benefits administration; events and health, safety and Workers Compensation program support; and HR communications. Primary areas of focus will be with manufacturing associates and local leaders; and administrative salaried non-exempt staff.

Principal Activities

Talent Sourcing and Selection

Attract, select and hire best talent through maintaining and improving processes which assure integrity, government compliance, short time to fill, low cost and positive experience for candidates and hiring team.

This will include:


  • Ensure job description accuracy including updating and developing job descriptions as roles evolve

  • Maintain internal position posting and selection processes

  • Ensure proper external position postings, handling of applicant flow, including employee referrals

  • Identify and maintain strong relationships with government and private sources for referral of manufacturing, technical and administrative non-exempt and earlier career exempt level talent

  • Work with local technical schools to develop and identify emerging talent

  • Work with temporary placement agencies to ensure referral and proper management of high quality placements

  • Identify and work with additional recruiting resources to fill and sustain talent pipelines

  • Administration of skill assessments, effective interviewing, participation in selection, development and presentation of offers, managing acceptance and start process

  • Benchmark locally sourced positions to insure external competitiveness and internal equity and affordability

Associate Relations, Talent Retention, Conflict Avoidance and Resolution

Maintain a work environment where employees understand, are comfortable with and proactively accessing appropriate internal support for their interests and concerns.


  • Support supervisors and associates with communications, training and coaching to interpret and apply HR policies and procedures especially in core areas of interest such as time and attendance, performance evaluations / disciplinary action, pay and benefits

  • Respond to and resolve complaints or conflicts through conducting investigations, and providing recommendations/resolutions to corrective action in accordance to company policy.

  • Support development, maintenance and communications of accurate positions descriptions and career paths

  • Address and maintain data on areas of concern to enable systemic problem identification and resolution. This will include participation in onboarding new and transferring associates, "management by walking around" visibility for all shifts, and exit interviews.

  • Responsible for programs and activities such as annual benefits open enrollment communications, year-round wellness initiatives;

  • Manage events and recognition programs for employee engagement, length of service/anniversary, military service, educational attainment, retirement and birthdays; picnic, breakfasts, holiday gifts and charitable events like the United Way.

  • Support and advance CIRCOR Operating System (COS), health, safety and workers compensation programs.

HR Data Entry, Accuracy and Reporting


  • Encourage and support associate and manager self-service, where available. Where not available, insure accurate and timely entry of HR data (hires, data changes, terminations).

  • Payroll-Timecard management. Work with managers to avoid timecard discrepancies such as time-off balances and leaves of absence. Ensure alignment to time keeping policies.

  • Assemble and insure data quality for external government reports, including AAP, EEO-1, Vets 100, and internal reports including monthly headcount and turnover.

Training Program Development and Delivery


  • Work with leaders to ensure that new hires, and associates new to a position, are enabled with the skills, knowledge and competencies to be successful. This includes an understanding of continuous improvement, Values and Ethics, safety, open door, roles and responsibilities and essential policies and procedures.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of "people skills" assessment and development plan for each team leader and supervisor, as well as potential successor candidates.

  • Assist with development and delivery of training programs in such areas as effective interviewing, conflict resolution, positive performance discussions and other required people skill areas.

Job Requirements


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS


Knowledge Skills & Abilities



  • Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably of which 3 in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately perform high volume, detailed work

  • Excellent at planning, organization and managing multiple priorities

  • Effective and professional written and oral communication

  • Highly customer service oriented

  • Ability to independently derive answers to problems through research and thought and present ideas persuasively

  • Able to flex schedule to business needs

  • Proficiency with employment legal requirements including but not limited to EEO/AAP, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, unemployment. workers compensation

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience with emphasis in Outlook, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to move safely in a manufacturing environment


Education & Experience



  • BA/BS in business or related field

  • Previous experience with, UltiPro, SuccessFactors, ADP and Career Builder/ TSR Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

  • Experience with office organization/coordination

  • Experience working across time zones and cultures

  • Comfort with technology including social media
