Position Summary:

Under the direction of Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will assist with the management of business unit spend for various materials and services, with the ultimate objective of reducing total cost of ownership. An understanding of how specific spends impact the business and supply chain is critical to ensure a true total cost of ownership is calculated. Relevant spend areas must be monitored to ensure that identified cost savings are realized and reported. This individual will work with a variety of business unit stakeholders to develop relationships, clarify requirements and resolve supply or service issues.

Core Functions:


  • Actively participate in global or regional initiatives and assist with the implementation of global or regional program/strategy where appropriate

  • Assist with the negotiation and/or management of regional/global supply agreements

  • Lead sourcing initiative in select assigned categories

  • Gather spend data within North America on assigned materials or services

  • Prepare RFI's and RFP's, often using e-sourcing tools (SAP)

  • Analyze bids; assist in developing sourcing strategies and making recommendations on supplier selection; assist in implementing approved sourcing strategies.

  • Assist in contract preparation and contract administration

  • Assist with the communication of North America procurement programs throughout organization in both written (memos, letters, presentations, etc.) and verbal (presentations, conference calls, etc.) formats

  • As assigned, track North America spend to ensure compliance to strategic procurement programs

  • Assist sourcing managers with the management of preferred suppliers, including measuring/ monitoring performance, and tracking savings

  • Assist in acting as a resource for North America plant transactional purchasing team

  • Assist in other Procurement programs and strategy sessions as required

Skill/Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field strongly preferred; or relevant experience

  • Three to five years of procurement/sourcing experience with indirect materials/services, with an emphasis on business admin and facility services (Seven to ten years non-degreed).

  • CPM, CPSM or similar professional certification preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes

  • Proficient in SAP

  • Transactional purchasing experience a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization

  • Familiarity with contract development and negotiation

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements a plus

  • English required, Spanish preferred

  • Strong internal customer support approach

  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on action items

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Exhibit exemplary business ethics

  • Demonstrated planning capabilities

  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, requiring frequent communication, organization/time management and problem solving skills

  • Support and actively participate in safety programs and initiatives and follow all safe work practices

  • Approximately 15% travel
