POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a staff position, based in Houston with the Bakken Asset. The primary responsibility will be to provide well planning, design and engineering support, and daily drilling operational oversight for this unconventional asset. Although office-based, there may be a requirement for periodic travel to the well site in support of ongoing operations. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, with a clear focus on the value that effective planning and engineering can bring to the company. Candidates willing to work on acontract or contract-to-hire basis will also be considered.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Direct over-sight for trouble free rig operations and responsibility for coordinating recovery plans during NPT events

  • Drilling engineering support within a cross-functional asset team with functional interface into the Drilling and Completions Central asset organization

  • Detailed well planning including design, engineering and drilling procedure generation

  • Detailed time and cost estimate generation and tracking of estimate vs. actual

  • Thorough identification of risks and mitigating controls for all recommended procedure - includes risk assessments, MOCs, and ensuring alignment with corporate, regulatory, and asset standards

  • On-going support of contracted services including NPT resolution and technical review

  • Performance tracking (actual vs. planned) and driving continuous improvement in well cycle time and cost

  • Post well close out and reporting including capture of lessons learned and best practices

  • Coaching engineers in wellsite supervisor roles as appropriate

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in mechanical or petroleum engineering).

  • Minimum5 years US Onshore well engineering experience with an operator of which 3 will have been directly related to drilling engineering/well design.

  • Unconventional drilling experience and/or extended reach lateral drilling experience

  • Engineering and operational experience with regards to drilling operations including casing design, directional drilling, drill string/BHA design, drilling fluids, cementing and contingency planning.

  • High degree of computer literacy in the Microsoft Suite and drilling engineering software (Landmark Suite)

  • Experience in risk assessment and well time/cost estimation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (a team player)

  • Ability to develop ideas and work with minimal supervision.

  • Well site operations experience.

  • Commitment to Environment, Health, Safety & Social Responsibility principles.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Appraisal and Development Drilling experience

  • Offshore drilling exposure

  • Prior experience working in the Bakken

  • Mobile, willing to relocate and work in other places in the US and globally
