McBee A.O. Smith Maintenance Apprenticeship Program
We have six (6) Maintenance Apprentices opportunities available this coming fall!
The Maintenance Apprenticeship program is an A. O.Smith sponsored 4-year program. The program is 8,000 hours in length and includes a combination of on-the job learning, mentoring, and in-person classroom training.Apprenticesare hired as regular, full-time employees by A. O. Smithand enjoy the same excellent benefits offered to other A. O. Smith employees including wages, vacation and health care coverage.
Apprentices will have to master on-the job competencies and processes such as workplace safety, equipment operation, general maintenance & troubleshooting, application of Product Data Management (PDM) technologies, lubrication, industrial electricity, maintenance of machinery, welding, hydraulics/pneumatics, DC circuits, motor controls, print reading, tool & cutter grinding, mechanical drawing, machine tool and, mechanical power applications.
At the same time, Apprentices will attend school for a minimum of 1 class per semester (3 semesters per year) for a total of 870 hours of education at Northeastern Technical College (NETC) of Cheraw. Tuition will be reimbursed through our Corporate Tuition Reimbursement Program once the class is completed with a passing letter grade of "B" or better. Class books will be provided and paid by the company.
Apprentice pay: minimum of $20.42/hour to start, based on prior experience.
