Position Summary:

Life Cycle Engineering is looking for seeking a highly motivated Auxiliaries Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a Navy technical training & material assistance program based in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have SME-level technical experience supporting Auxiliary Systems obtained through leadership of a shipboard auxiliaries division to include the successful completion of shipboard assessments and inspections.



Clearances Required:


  • The position incumbent must be a US citizen with a DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Must have a valid US Passport.




Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications and test procedures.

  • Assess shipboard level of knowledge and provide focused training to improve readiness.

  • Evaluate and provide feedback with recommendations for improvement on engineering system performance.

  • Provide training on operation, maintenance, and best practices for engineering systems.

  • Document deficiencies and generate 2-kilos as required.

  • Generate discrepancy reports and provide to the customer via Material Deficiency Report (MDR) and Material Deficiency Forms.

  • Assess shipboard readiness to train and provide safe to train status to customer prior to conducting training.

  • Comply with applicable safety standards.

  • Provide reference information and specifications for all deficiencies.

  • Serve as senior technical trainer assisting shipboard crews to increase fleet readiness.




Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


  • Over twenty years of experience with the operations and maintenance of auxiliary systems aboard a warship or military auxiliary.

  • Direct operational and maintenance experience, within the last five years, with auxiliary equipment and systems currently in use by the Navy to include diesel engines, gasoline internal combustion engines, potable water systems, compressed air/gas systems, air conditioning systems, fuel/lube oil systems, and ventilation systems.




Physical Demands & Expectations:


  • Regular physical activity to include (but are not limited to): climbing, crawling, fingering/typing, hearing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, talking, vision, and walking.

  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.

  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.

  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
