Senior Practitioner - Environmental Social Governance (ESG) & Sustainability at Geosyntec Consultants in Denver, Colorado

We are seeking a Senior Practitioner - ESG & Sustainability in Colorado, Texas, Massachusetts, or New Jersey (open to other U.S. or Canada office locations) to help us grow our ESG & Sustainability Practice. You must have an entrepreneurial attitude, and enthusiasm for supporting business development and technical efforts to expand Geosyntec's market share. This position will support the creation and implementation of new strategies by providing strategic solutions to our clients' most complex problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging ESG & Sustainability projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. Following are some of the key responsibilities:



  • Engage in business development, marketing and proposal development, project management, and technical leadership and mentoring within the ESG & Sustainability practice as we work within a variety of projects while assisting our clients with developing their knowledge and growing their expertise in this fast-paced, evolving ESG field.

  • Manage multiple marketing opportunities and proposal development for a wide variety of client types, needs and specificities, including preparing technical proposals, participating in business development with existing clients, and identified leads; and maintaining client relationships that generate repeat business.

  • Grow our capabilities in:

    • Due diligence risk-based evaluations, identification of material issues, and recommendations for improvements;

    • Materiality and risk assessment processes and capability of facilitating workshops and discussions;

    • Understanding of Economic, Social, Governance components of ESG and Sustainability;

    • Understanding of carbon and climate change programs, trends analysis; and

    • Conducting a variety of evaluations such as impact assessments, benchmarking, and gap analysis process as we assist clients in developing strategies relevant to their ESG and Sustainability efforts.



  • Provide regulatory and legislative expertise, planning, research and reporting to clients based upon anticipated changes and key elements that may impact their business.

  • Assess, develop and build community engagement practices and stakeholder analysis, mapping and building of comprehensive plans for clients.

  • Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.

  • Manage projects and staff, including providing technical leadership, mentoring and oversight helping the core ESG & Sustainability practice develop processes and systems that are sustainable for the Company.

  • Assist in the development and transfer of knowledge and skills to early and mid-career staff, including recruiting and training additional staff members as the practice continues its high-growth trajectory.

  • Serve in a leadership role in developing and building upon the unique company culture and practice; and encourage others to live the values, especially safety-mindset, diversity, inclusion, and equity, and sustainability across the organization.

  • Staff management and mentoring responsibilities include: promote Geosyntec corporate culture of technical excellence, high quality deliverables, outstanding client service, and exceptional teamwork; provide frequent informal feedback, coach and counsel project team members to achieve performance excellence; and provide managers with formal feedback on project performance for review processes.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.


  • Fieldwork: Typically, approximately 20%


  • Overnight travel: Typically, approximately 30%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Sustainability, Business, Legal, Sciences, or related discipline. (required)

  • Master's degree in the same. (preferred)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of relevant or transferrable experience, preferred consultancy or client management-based experience related to ESG & Sustainability, Legal, or Business or related degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

  • Project management experience for complex ESG and Sustainability programs, management systems, and framework design for small, medium and large-scale projects or business enterprise wide. (required)

  • Experience in key areas with both private and public companies such as client management, stakeholder relations, compliance, auditing, due diligence, liaison with government and regulatory agencies or understanding of government and regulatory structures, managements systems, etc. (preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully deliver on complex projects and/or specific deliverables or phases of work on larger programs on time and in budget, including technical and financial oversight; ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams. (required)

  • Ability to develop relationships, and draw upon talent, knowledge, and expertise with global technical and corporate staff in offices across the company. (required)

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (required)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
