Kleinfelder's Southern California Offices (Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, or San Diego County) is seeking aSenior Biology Team Lead with a natural science backgroundto provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to a talented Biology and Environmental Team, with a diverse set of skills.
Responsibilities also include managing and preparing concise, accurate technical documents; oversight of multi-disciplinary work on simultaneous, diverse energy and related projects; participation and oversight of the preparation of competitive proposals; clear understanding of state and federal regulatory requirements; and an ability to provide professional presentations.
Applicants with substantial experience with the following will be considered: coordination and management of wildlife and botanical surveys, nesting bird surveys, habitat assessments and biological compliance monitoring; and environmental permitting experience. Ideal candidates should possess a diverse background and understanding of southern California wildlife and plant communities; as well as California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and state/federal agency permitting processes. Past experience with staff supervision and development is essential. The position will require coordination with other project managers and multidisciplinary teams, in addition to developing and monitoring project budgets and schedules. Successful candidates will provide mentorship and independent technical reviews to ensure that impact analyses accurately reflect anticipated effects from proposed actions and alternatives. A background in CEQA/NEPA environmental permitting/environmental documents and experience with organizing public involvement efforts and agency/stakeholder meetings is preferred.Preferred candidates will have an expert level understanding of utility industry operations to facilitate the development of proposed actions, alternatives, and impact analyses for energy development projects.
