Job Summary

Incumbent is responsible for leading the operational, technical, and development of the DICOM infrastructure (picture archiving and communication system (PACS), vendor neutral archive (VNA) and DICOM routing). Additionally, this individual will act as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives within the department and other departments. The individual is responsible for overseeing and coordinating existing and participation in new DICOM related initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and other related activities. Works closely with unit operations managers to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission and exceptions handling.

Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems within the department, working closely with unit operations managers and division heads as well as involving the next level of administration as appropriate.

Works closely with management, in the development of operating standards, policies, and procedures. Reviews feedback from customers, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.

Works closely with management personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes, which include further integration into operations.

Works closely with management to oversee and coordinate strategic planning for imaging initiatives.

Acts as liaison between departments with products and projects related to medical imaging initiatives and procedures and assisting with existing or new medical imaging endeavors.

Oversees and coordinates strategic planning for medical imaging initiatives

Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems.

Prepares reports for management on all aspects of medical imaging operations as appropriate or directed.

Attends and participates in departmental meetings. Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence.

Leads projects, solutions and/or processes of medium to high complexity. May include leading teams of non-employee resources.

Actively participate on committees representing inter/intra IT organizations.

Identifies, quantifies, and prioritizes solutions to address business and technical issues.

Influences and negotiates to achieve business strategy and deliver results to internal/external partners.

Functions as leader and subject matter expert in one or more of the following capacities: technical, project management or industry.

Researches and validates innovative solutions (both external and internal), leveraging best practices for quality and process efficiencies.

Leads assignments and/or maintains systems of medium to large complexity, including requirements definition, internal/external resource management and budgets.

Applies principles, concepts and practices of the IT Competency Model at the Lead level.

Proactively enforces worldwide and local security policies to ensure IT information assets are protected.

Provides mentoring and coaching to junior team members.

Expected Areas of Competence

Excellent written/oral communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Ability to work well under pressure and on concurrent, multidisciplinary projects.

Proficiency in office applications and DICOM required.

Experience in implementing and maintaining enterprise level PACS infrastructure and operational excellence required

In depth knowledge of various radiology modalities, imaging informatics, and current imaging protocols preferred

Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related healthcare discipline required with at least 6+ years relative professional experience; OR

Bachelor’s with Master’s degree in business, IT or related field with at least 4+ years relative professional experience

CIIP Certification preferred

Travel Requirements

Up to 15%
